April 18, 2011 Brewers 8, Phillies 4

Off to the best start in 24 years and their second best start in franchise history, the Milwaukee Brewers come to town and put another notch in the win collumn. Shaun Marcum sailed through the first three innings until walking Ryan Howard to lead off the 4th for the first Phillie runner. That was followed two batters later by a Raul Ibanez single for the first hit, and next batter Carlos Ruiz smokes one over the wall for a 3-run homer which at the time tied the game. But, the Brewers get two in the 6th and add three more insurance runs in the 9th for and easy win to go to 12-4.

The only Milwaukee team off to a better start than this one was the 1987 team, probably the most schizophrenic in history. They won their first 13 games, best in baseball history, and off to an unbelievable 16-1 and 20-3 start. After that, the bottom fell out. The Brewers lost 12 straight games to totally erase that 13-0 start, won a couple then lost six more and go from 20-3 at the beginning of May to 22-21 by the end of the month. They wound up recovering somehat and won 91 games, but it wasn't enough for a division title.
