| While catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia didn't get the start behind the plate, he plays hero in the end with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 12th inning in the annual Patriots Day game. Salts came into the game on defense after starting catcher Jason Varitek was pinch-ran for by Darnell McDonald in the 7th, and McDonald's extra speed enables him to score the tying run. Rhode Island native Dan Wheeler is in the right place in the right time for the win and his first in a Red Sox uniform. The win puts the Red Sox to 11-4 and solo posession of first place in the AL East, while their division foes the Blue Jays drop their third straight with their 3-13 record being the worst record in the majors and their worst start to a year in team history.
