| Toronto hurler Luis Perez gets a line that any starter could easily live with - 4 2/3 shutout innings only allowing two hits. Only problem for the Jays is that Perez came into the game in the 2nd inning in relief of starter Jesse Litsch after Litsch allows seven Sox runners to cross the plate. Three of the eight Red Sox runs are unearned with two of those coming as a direct result of an error, henceforth only 6 RBI with 8 runs. In all of the wildness, Jon Lester quietly goes to 3-0 on the year. Added note about Luis Perez - on top of the 4 2/3 innings of relief today, he also went 2 1/3 innings allowing three runs in last game's slugfest for 7 innings overall and 124 pitches total in the two games. But then, with Toronto's starter unable to get out of the second inning two days in a row... |

The Boston Red Sox readily handled Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 8 to 4 at
Fenway Park.
Boston had 5 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they
had 6 base hits. That early run support was enough for Jon Lester(3-0) and
Boston. Overall Boston out-hit Toronto 12 to 3.
Jesse Litsch(0-2) was the loser. He gave up 7 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings and
saw his ERA jump from 2.08 to 4.91.
