April 6, 2011 Red Sox 9, Indians 4

How this team started off 0-6 IRL is beyond me the way they are playing in the SOM. Both Jacoby Ellsbury and Adrian Gonzalez rip out two homeruns apiece as the Sox rip the Indians for the second straight day. In the first inning, ater Ellsbury is at third and Carl Crawford at first after two singles, I go for a double steal of 2nd/home. A 1-13 chance for Crawford to steal second, and a 1-5 for Ellsbury to steal home on a delay. I go for it, the throw goes to second but is winged home when Ellsbury breaks for it. The split comes up a 4, Ellsbury is safe on the steal of home and Crawford steals second. It didn't matter in the end as next batter Dustin Pedroia smokes one over the fence for a 3-0 lead to begin the onslaught.

The Sox remain the only undefeated team in the league, going to 5-0 for only the second time since 1946 and first time since 1999. A win next game for a 6-0 start would tie the best start in team history set back in 1918. If that happens, that will also mean obviously an Indians loss, and that 0-6 start for them will be the second worst start in Indians history, with the worst an 0-8 back in 1914.

WEB GEMS- Bot 7th: J.D. Drew robbed Carlos Santana of a Homerun!

Jacoby Ellsbury smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Progressive Field as the
Boston Red Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 9 to 4.

Ellsbury was really in 'the zone'. He laced a base-knock in the 1st inning,
lofted a three-run bomb in the 4th inning, ripped a solo home run in the 6th
inning and delivered a single in the 9th inning. Boston had 13 hits for the
game and Cleveland had 10.

The victory was credited to Daisuke Matsuzaka(1-0) who went 5 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Jonathan Papelbon was credited with his 3rd save. Mitch
Talbot(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 3 and
1/3 innings.

'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park tonight,' Ellsbury said.
'I'm glad I decided to play!'
