| After plenty of early scoring with the teams in a 5-5 tie after only 3 1/2 innings, the scoring stays quiet for the next 8 innings until the Nats 12th when Adam Laroche leads off with a walk pinch-hitting for the pitcher, and Nats leadoff hitter Ian Desmond rips one that rolls to the wall getting Laroche across the plate with the winning run off of David Herndon. Desmond gets credit for the walk-off triple. Not often you see 12 inning games played at a quick clip like this, only 3:06. The loss knocks the Phils to 0-4 on the road now this year, but you can't blame the defense. So far through 10 games, not one Phillie fielder has committed an error. I would assume that 10 games into a season without an error has to be pretty close to a record. I couldn't find out what the record would be, but I did find out that the record overall is 18 straight errorless games for the 2009 Yankees. |
