| It looked early like the Sox would lose their first of the season until Jarrod Saltalamacchia smokes his first homerun of the season over the wall in the 5th, good for a Grand Slam, as the Red Sox outscore the Indians 8-0 the remainder of the game. Jon Lester again has a subpar start, but again is taken off the hook. But the big stary so far this season has been the play of Adrian Gonzalez. After a hitless opener, here is how it has gone since for Gonzo: 4/02 - 2 for 5, HR, 5 RBI 4/03 - 3 for 4, HR, 4 RBI 4/05 - 3 for 5 4/06 - 3 for 5, 2 HR, 2 RBI 4/07 - 1 for 4, HR, 3 RBI Overall for the season, including his 0 for 3 opener, he is batting .462 with 5 HR and 14 RBI. Not only Gonzalez, but Jacoby Ellsbury has been ripping it up too as you can see: 4/01 - 2 for 3, scored 3 runs 4/02 - 3 for 4, scored 2 runs 4/03 - 1 for 5 4/05 - 1 for 5, HR, 2 RBI 4/06 - 4 for 4, 2 HR, 4 RBI 4/07 - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI..... for the total of a .520 average, 4 homeruns and 9 RBI. Now you can see part of the reason why the Red Sox are off to a 6-0 start, tying the best start in team history. Meanwhile the Indians drop to 0-6, their worst start to a season in almost 100 years (since 1914). |

Jarrod Saltalamacchia had 4 hits at Progressive Field as the Boston Red Sox
beat the slumping Cleveland Indians 10 to 4.
Saltalamacchia was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a
fine day at their team's expense. He doubled in the 2nd inning, emptied the
bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 5th inning, doubled in the 7th inning
and ripped a single in the 9th inning. Cleveland was out-hit by Boston, 12
hits to 6.
Jon Lester(1-0) went 6 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Fausto
Carmona(0-2) took the loss. Boston knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7
runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
