| Carlos Ruiz provides the pop with a 3-run homerun, while Roy Halladay provudes the arm going the distance with the 3-hitter. Halladay retired the first 10 Mets to face him until he walked Willie Harris in the 4th, and had the no-hitter going until an Ike Davis single with two outs in the 7th inning. Halladay strikes out 7, and has only allowed one run through 17 inings of work this season so far. With the loss, the Mets drop to 0-6. With the Rockies winning their first game of the season today, that will leave the Mets and Indians (both 0-6) as the only winless teams in the league along with the Red Sox (6-0) the only undefeated team. For the Sox, the 6-0 start ties their 1918 team for the best start in team history. For the Indians, the 0-6 start is their worst start since their 1914 team had the worst start in team history at 0-8. And for the Mets, their 0-6 start will be the worst in almost 50 years. Their 1963 team started 0-8, but the worst in team history is the 0-9 start for the previous year's team, one of the worst teams in major league history. |
