April 9, 2011 Yankees 6, Red Sox 3

It was bound to happen, the Sox take it on the chin in the first loss of the year. Clay Buchholz can't get out of the 4th inning, allowing all 6 runs in a subpar start while walking 4 and throwing a wild pitch. The Red Sox outhit the Yankees 12-11, but two runners thrown out at home and untimely hitting spell doom. Two of the runs scored of a two-run shot for David Ortiz. Even with the loss, the current 7-1 record for the Red Sox still ties the best start in team history, done three previous times back in the olden days (1904, 1918 and 1920).
